Homoeopathy

Discovered in the late 1700's, by a German doctor Samuel Hahnemann, homoeopathy is system of medicine based on these two principles:

  • Like cures like (Law of Similars)
  • The more dilute the remedy, the greater its potency (Law of the Infinitesimal Dose)

SAMe

SAMe is a naturally occurring amino acid in the body where it acts as an important methyl donor. It is responsible for the creation of a wide variety of substances necessary for numerous biochemical processes. As such, it is needed for the production of serotonin and other neurotransmitters, assists in liver detoxification pathways, and helps maintaincorrect homocysteine levels.

SAMe functions very closely with vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin B6. A deficiency of these vitamins can result in decreased SAMe synthesis and increased homocysteine levels. High levels of homocysteine have been implicated with conditions of the cardiovascular system.
